What We Will Fund
Essential Criteria

Applicants must demonstrate that their ministry project extends the Kingdom of God by bringing the good news of Jesus Christ to all people.

The Foundation will look for this demonstration in three main areas.

  • Evangelism of the world
  • Growing disciples through teaching, training and equipping of the saints
  • Meeting the needs of the marginalised.

In addition, applicants must …

  • share the same Christian Values as the Foundation
  • be accountable for use of funds and able to manage the ministry project.
  • demonstrate that staff involved in ministry projects are passionate and committed to the cause
  • show evidence of their ability to sustain the ministry project for the long term.

The Trustees' Decision

The Foundation may seek character references and conduct its own research where necessary in order to make its decision. It also reserves the right, in the exercise of its sole and absolute discretion, to approve or disapprove any recommendations for grants. Please note that compliance with the criteria cannot guarantee acceptance of your request as funds are limited and requests are endless. Furthermore, issuing of a grant in any given year should not be taken to imply continued support in future years.

Preferences & Exclusions

PREFERENCES

Barrabool Hills Baptist Community Church

A major focus of the Foundation is to facilitate the outreach ministries of BHBCC that meet the above criteria. However, other organisations or ministries that meet the above criteria are encouraged to apply.

Partnership

The Foundation seeks a partner relationship with ministry projects and this should be taken into consideration when making application. It is not intended that this partnership be in the legal sense nor does the Foundation wish to exercise control over or responsibility for the ministry. Rather, it desires open communication which may include ministry reports and testimony such that there is mutual encouragement.

Existing and New Ministries

The Foundation will consider both existing and new ‘pioneering’ ministries.

Longer Term Projects?

The Foundation recognises that many ministry projects are spread over a number of years and therefore need support on a recurring basis in order to achieve their objectives. Organisations requiring this kind of support should not be discouraged from making application. The maximum dollar limits for grants are only per annum limits.

Special Program?

The Foundation appreciates that some organisations may require funding for their normal operations. In these cases the applicant should not feel the need to package the funding proposal as a differentiated program. However, the issue of sustainability will still need to be addressed.

Australia and Overseas

It is a requirement of our registration as a Charitable Fund that grants be applied principally in Australia but not exclusively. Therefore both Australian based organisations that carry out their work overseas and overseas based organisations that are from developing nations are encouraged to apply so long as they meet the above criteria.

EXCLUSIONS

In general and for various reasons the Foundation will not support the following:

  • unethical ventures or ventures with morals contrary to the Christian faith
  • political parties
  • requests to fund deficits and costs already incurred
  • general fund raising projects or appeals
  • other foundations
